Why President Trump is the Best Hope for Israel and the Future of the Middle East

On August 13th, in a historic act, the United Arab Emirates allied with Egypt and Jordan in establishing a peaceful diplomatic relationship with Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan crown prince of Abu Dhabi will sign bilateral agreements that will enhance both countries’ economies and help to advance society. This breakthrough facilitated by President Trump is a step in the right direction for Middle Eastern countries’ relationships with Israel. This united agreement fosters reconciliation and commitment towards improving the quality of life of both Israel and the UAE.

The next step for President Trump’s strategic agenda is to reach an agreement with Palestine. There is much potential for economic growth to occur between Israel and Palestine. The President has a plan to open up the West Bank and Gaza and strengthen the institutions in Palestine that can have a mutually beneficial relationship for Israel. The first step to peace and greater economic prosperity is for both countries to work together and not restrict each other. When there is cooperation between Israel and Palestine, the rest of the Middle East and the world’s economies can advance. Trump’s comprehensive plan for the Palestinian’s economy is well balanced with his agenda to enhance the Palestinian leadership. With that, Israel and Palestine can form a new alliance just like Israel and the UAE have.

It is important for Israel to have an allyship with a President Trump since he is one of the first in modern-day leadership to make great strides in Middle-Eastern peace. The U.S. can provide Israel with security it so desperately needs to focus on economic development and improved standard of living.

The following are worldwide statements of support for President Trump's peace agreements from varying heads of states:

“The kingdom appreciates the efforts of President Trump’s Administration to develop a comprehensive peace plan between the Palestinian and the Israeli sides, and encourages the start of direct peace negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, under the auspices of the United States, and to resolve any disagreements with aspects of the plan through negotiations…” - Statement from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

“The State of Qatar welcomes all efforts aiming towards a longstanding and just peace in the occupied Palestinian territories. It also appreciates the endeavors of President Trump and the current U.S. administration to find solutions for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, all solutions should be consistent with international law and the relevant UN resolutions…” -Qatar statement

“With reference to the announcement by the President of the United States of America, President Donald Trump, of the ‘Peace to Prosperity’ plan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms the Kingdom’s position on the Palestinian issue and its support for all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the conflict, which leads to the restoration of all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that affords the Palestinian people the same rights enjoyed by their counterparts across the globe.‏” - Kingdom of Bahrain statement

“Morocco appreciates the peace efforts of the Trump Administration and wishes that a constructive peace process be launched . . . Already, Morocco has noted elements of convergence with the principles and options that it has always defended in this matter: These include the two-state solution.”-Statement from Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Kingdom of Morocco

“Australia welcomes the release of the U.S. ‘Vision for Peace’ by President Trump today. We welcome any initiative that can assist the resumption of direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians for an end to this conflict, and the agreement of a durable and resilient peace settlement.” -Statement from Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne

The Middle East, Israel especially, needs a resolute plan to establish a framework for a mutually beneficial partnership. President Trump’s vision will bolster the Palestinian economy which in turn will help Israel’s economy by creating more than 1 million new jobs, reducing unemployment below 10%, and cutting the poverty rate in half. Israel has the potential to advance the Middle East with the help of Palestine. This is crucial in order to counter Iran and the other conflicts of the region. The partnership formed with the UAE is a step in the right direction, but just the beginning. President Trump has proven that he is the person to affect meaningful change in the Middle East and allow it to prosper. His policies would help normalize the fact that we are all one people despite religious and ethnic differences. If foreign policy continues in this direction, tensions will be lessened and people in the Middle East will develop more of a humanistic perspective on the world. While the peace agreement is historic in its own right, it is one of many under recognized accomplishments of the Trump Administration.
